Separation of Church and State
There is supposed to be a separation between church and state. If you look at the government and the politicians that run our government everything is revolved around religion. Religion plays apart in what we vote for, and who we vote for. It always has. Religion is the main focus in our government, even if it’s not supposed to be. Though religion is not supposed to be connected to the government, religiousness coincides with what the public want. If it’s what the public wants then it is going to be in politics. “The fact that ethical convictions are rooted in religious faith does not disqualify them from the political realm.” “They must be argued for in appropriate social and political terms in harmony with national values” (Cauthen, The Ethics of Belief: A Bio-Historical Approach, 2001). With this in mind anything that has to do with religion must be appropriate for the public. If religion is not going to be involved in what the public wants then it does not belong in the government. So if religion is what the public wants then Church and State are going to go hand in hand even if they are not suppose to. Churches help politicians by letting them speak to their congregations and by supporting them in their church.
