John Boynton Priestly was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, on the 13th of September 1894. He wrote an “Inspector calls” in 1945, but, the play is set on a evening in spring in 1912, from the Birlings dining room of their family house in Brumley, an industrial city in the north midlands. The style of the play seem at first glance to be a straight- forward, detective thriller, after the natures of the birling family and its guest Gerald Croft, the inspector arrives with the news of the death by suicide of Eva Smith. As the involvement of each of the members of the family are progressively established, the structure becomes that of a whodunit with the inspector apparently slowly unravelling the history of Eva Smith. ...
