Are you worried about how you are going to keep your family warm during the winter, when money is getting tight? Well don’t worry anymore. There is an old classic look at alternative energy source other than coal-powered. It’s called geothermal energy. In literal translation “geo” means earth and “thermal” means heat. The very ground we walk on has stored heat. At the center of the earth, 4000 miles beneath us, is hot magma. We call this the core of the earth. Now obviously the farther we are from the earth’s core the cooler the heat is or we would all be walking on hot magma. Now what I we could use that energy to heat up our houses or even use it for electricity for an entire city.
How can we use the earth’s heat to produce electricity? Here’s how: With a natural reservoir of water such as a lake or river connected by piping to a pump house, where the water is then drilled down the injection well. This well is a pipe that is drilled about 4000-6000 meters below the earth’s surface. The water is heated at rapid speed then “production wells collects the water vapor and sends it to the earth’s surface. This vapor is sent to a heat exchanger where excess water is sent back to the injection well and the water vapor is sent to the turbine hall. The turbine hall has huge turbines which turn when the water vapor pushes out. These turbines convert mechanical energy to electricity, by acting like generators.
