The Tale of Two Quarterbacks
    Kurt Warner and Drew Brees are two of the more successful quarterbacks in the history of the National Football League (NFL). Although they started out with quite different backgrounds as young boys, both men display many similarities of how they defied the odds and became Super Bowl champions and great inspirations to many people.
Kurt Warner was born in Iowa in 1971 where high school football is just a sport. Kurt struggled as a kid and came from a broken home. He played sports to keep himself busy and always wanted to play wide receiver. But e was always quite bigger and pudgier than the rest of the boys and they would put him on the offensive or defensive line. Kurt was frustrated with the position he played never touching the ball. He almost quit, but stuck it out for two years. He enrolled at Regis High School in 1985 and went out for the football team. The coach held open try-outs and Kurt threw the ball farther than anyone else and named him the team’s starting quarterback. He begged the coach to make him a tight end so he could be a receiver but the coach refused. He quickly evolved as a passer and set every school passing record for his school. Kurt was excited and looking forward to what major college offers he might receive from college recruiters.
Drew Brees was born in Texas in 1979 where football is serious business, played by kids with serious talent. Football was an integral part of the Brees family culture. ...
