Education or Sex? During the years of our adolescents our bodies, minds, and hormones go on a rollercoaster ride through puberty hell. During this time children have a lot of questions about their bodies that they are often to embarrassed to ask. ¬¬¬¬With permission from parents, these questions can easily be answered in a program that is taught to fifth graders in schools across America called, Sex Education. This program was designed to teach children about the changes their body is going through, puberty, the risk of sex, sexually transmitted diseases and teenage pregnancy. All in hopes of achieving the goal of making children more aware of risks and consequences of sex. In every decision there are pros and cons, some people are very opposed to Sex Education being taught and others completely support the lesson. Those who oppose this can feel that it is not the schools systems responsibility to have “the talk” with their child, those who support Sex Ed can feel that the school system can properly educate their children making them aware of the consequences and danger of sex and the natural course our body takes. It’s heard from every little girl’s father, “I’ll be waiting with a shot gun on the front porch when you bring your first boyfriend home.” In most families this is a joke between a father and his young daughter about a first date.
