In this paper I will assert that legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes would improve our society and our nation. Decriminalizing marijuana would lessen the inherent negativity and crime associated with illegal drugs. Making the use of cannabis lawful, would diminish the need for black market purchasing, robbery, murder and all other sinister activity associated with illicit drugs. Legalizing marijuana could ease the problem with the economic recession as well, by providing an additional flow of cash, offering funds for public healthcare programs that today are being neglected. Many contend that marijuana use produces addiction and lawlessness, never considering the advantages medicinal marijuana could have to offer.
