What is psoriasis? Like many skin conditions and disease among us, psoriasis is actually a very common condition. Psoriasis is considered a disease of the epidermis. It's also considered by skin cells that increase up to ten times faster than normal. As essential cells reach the skin's surface and die, their pure volume causes raised, red plaques covered with white scale. Psoriasis normally occurs on the knees, elbows, and scalp and can also affect the torso, palms, and soles of the feet.
Most psoriasis patients have this condition because it is passed down through families. However, this condition cannot be spread to others. Researchers found nine gene mutations that may be involved in causing psoriasis. One of these mutations on chromosome 6, called PSORS-1, appears to be a major cause that can lead to psoriasis.
There are 5 types of psoriasis, like, plaque, guttate, inverse, pustular, and erythrodermic. The most common is called plaque psoriasis. Many psoriasis patients suffer from plaque psoriasis, which is causes skin redness and irritation; they have thick, red skin, which sometimes has flakes and white patches. Guttate psoriasis causes small pink-red spots, whereas erythrodermic causes the skin redness over a large area of the body. Inverse psoriasis occurs usually in the armpits, groin, and in between overlapping skin. Pustular cause white blisters around the red, irritated part of the skin.
