"Of Mice and Men" by John Stienbeck Although the novel Of Mice and Men was somewhat offensive, I think they should not ban it. The part in the book were george was like " you crazy son of a bitch" (pg. 12), would be conseredied offensive to many people. However, stop and think, when have you gone a day without hearing someone curse? Even if you think its offensive, you cant prevent it. We do not live in a perfect world, and we ourselves are not the perfect human being either. We should look past the part in the book where Gearge was like "you crazy bastard" (pg.17) and focus on the message of the book. As you finish the novel you see the novel wasnt written to disrespect, but rather to prove and send a message. In the ending of the novel the message was proven. Part of love is sacrafising yourself or having to do something out of your comfort zone to defend the ones you love. In this case it was George sacrafising the life of Lennie by killing him. George put Lennie out of his future painful death because George knew that if Curley killed Lennie, it wold be a slow painful death. Throughout the novel you can feel the innocence of Lennie. For example when George was taling about his great plans for building his dream land, Lennie only cared about the rabbitts. Lennie was very excited to tend them and he said "George can i tend the rabbits" (pg 49) in reading that you can see the innocence of Lennie. Overall it was a great touching book.
