This novel had so much depth to it. In my opinion, this book was written to make people think very thoroughly. I noticed the play on Am-Erica and her falling on her knees after 9/11. In addition, Changez's name I believe was a huge part of who he was also. He was changing throughout his life in the book. I do not think that there are only a few different interpretations into this book. I think it depends on what aspect you look at the book from and what symbols in the book you decide to dwell on. There is a lot of ways to play on this book depending on our own expectations of the book as we read and the biases we carry.
    I interpret this book as a witness from an outside perspective of our country. Changez came to America, studied hard and jumped right into to make a life for himself. He scores a high paying job right off the bat and settles in comfortably. He works for a company, which gives other companies what they believe they are worth. Within this, they also decide the fates of the workers based wholly on money matters. You get the idea that he does not like this way of running things and does not feel its right. Therefore, when the planes hit the buildings in September 11ths attacks he gives us insight to the slight satisfaction he feels seeing the U.S. deal with tragedy so many other countries already death. Then Changez struggles with loyalty. Where does he fit?
    Changez life just falls apart fast at this point. Erica is despondent to him and is obsessed with her...
