    Since the beginning of ancient literature, poetry has been a popular form of writing. Poetry is a form of free writing that can follow a format/structure, or not. Poetry is also a great way to express feelings through words. Two famous poets, Li Po and Tu Fu, are great examples of the power and emotion of poetry. They began a style of Shih Poetry that had a great affect on the readers. These two wrote during a very influential period of time which only enhanced their popularity. They wrote during a time of aspiring poets, some who succeeded, and many who failed. Their poems are still read and analyzed today because of their excellence. It can therefore be concluded, that even in ancient Chinese literature, great poems were written.
    The first poem is written by Li Po, which tries to display the beauty and sorrow of the night. The poem is titled The Moon at the Fortified Pass. The poem begins with a description of the beautiful night. It uses imagery to capture the essence of the night using words like: glimmering. The story then begins to describe the soldiers who are marching down a famous Chinese road. The poems ends with the opposing side of the soldiers turning around and returning to their borders. This poem displays a great amount of emotion in that it’s almost a paradox of ideas. It starts with descriptive imagery of the beautiful night, but changes ideas to the sorrowful lives of soldiers during the night. This poem captures both images...
