Even after 50 years of Independece almost one third of Indias popullation is living below poverty line.And another one third ot its popullation is barely able to meet thier basic needs.These people do not have access to good food, better health services, standard housing and quality education.Despite governments continuous efforts there is no significant improvements in their condition.Followings are some root causes of Indias poverty.

Lack of effective government planning and their proper execution:- In our country there is a big shortage of management skills.It can be seen in planning and governance too.We invest a lot of resources, time and energy in formulating big plans and strategies.But we are least concerned about their proper implementation and effective execution. This negligent behaviour of our higher authorities leads to corruption and failure of plans and strategies.And with each such failure our country sinks down in poverty.To check corruption our executives and legislatures have to maintain high level of ethics and they will have to promote performance culture in their departments.

Political instability – This is a major hurdle in the way of development of the country.
