One very important part of the United States of America’s government is one person, The President. As president, whoever is elected will have a lot of duties and responsibilities. Diplomatic duties include him making key decisions about relations between the United States and other nations in the world, appointing ambassadors, ad traveling around the world to build friendships and security for the United States and the world. The President also has legislative duties he must do which include the following: He must sign off or veto all bills passed by congress (which he can also suggest new laws to congress), address Congress with a state of the union message once a year which talks about the condition of the country and points out what is important for the country for the following year and tells what the government is planning to do, and also prepare budget for the nation once a year. The President has a lot of power and can use it just like President Andrew Jackson did by vetoing more than any other president because he did not agree with congress in the early 1800’s. With great power comes great responsibility, President Truman had to make the decision of dropping atomic bombs on Japan towards the end of WWII in 1945. As Commander in Chief of the United States military, our President can send military forces anywhere in the world, he is always in close contact with the U.S. military leaders.
