Professor Bowling English 101/066 November 6 , 2010 What is a “True Fan?” It’s a sunny, Sunday afternoon and your favorite team is getting stomped in the third quarter. Do you stay, or should you go ahead and leave to beat the traffic home? If you’re a “true fan”, you would never leave the game before it was over. A “true fan” isn’t someone who is going to fold under adversity; we stand strong and support our favorite team or player no matter what the circumstances. To become a “true fan,” someone must follow certain rules and display a variety of characteristics such as: knowledgeable of their favorite team and its history, loyalty to that team, no “jumping on the bandwagon,” dressing in support of your team, your behavior, sportsmanship, and your overall love for the game. Without knowledge of your favorite team or player, you can’t be considered a “true fan.” If someone asks you, “When’s the last time the Titans won a super bowl?” and you don’t know the answer, you’re not a true fan. Without knowledge of your favorite team, your credibility is tarnished, and without credibility you can’t be considered a “true fan.” Also, without knowledge of your team and its players, you cannot cheer for them properly during the game. “Knowledge іѕ an integral раrt οf being a real fan.
