Lebanon
A land of golden beaches and stunning mountain landscapes, those change with the seasons, but are always bathed in the warm sun. An ancient land, features in the writings of Homer and in the Old Testament. I will share with you Lebanon’s foundations, beauties, and diversities along with a few interesting facts I came across.
Lebanon is a democratic republic with a parliamentary system of government. The president is elected for a term of 6 years. His name is Michel Sleiman. The Prime Minister is Fouad Siniora. Lebanon's legislature house (parliament) has 128 members and is presided by Speaker Nabih Berri. Lebanon’s constitution was amended May 23, 1926. “Kulluna lil-Watan”, or “All of Us, For Our Country”, the national anthem, was adopted in 1927. Lebanon's national holiday is 22 November, the Independence Day.
    Lebanon, which represents 1/40 of the total area of the Arabia Peninsula, bordering the Mediterranean Sea between Israel and Syria, produces 70% of the publications in the Arab world. Lebanon is 10,452 sq. km and has 4.3 million people. Most people live in cities, but there are still many small towns in mountains and farming areas. Its cities were major outposts and seaports in Phoenician and Roman times, just two of the great civilizations that touched this important Middle Eastern crossroads. Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, is located at the northern part of the country. The north tends to be mountainous, the center flat, and the south hilly. Forests, ...
