More and more in today’s time teenagers are letting society run their lives. Rap music plays a major part in a teenager’s life. They can constantly listening to the new and latest artist that’s out. I believe that violent rap lyrics/ and or songs are causing teens to become more violent. Teen violence in on the rise more and more in today’s troubling times. Teens are committing violent crimes in our community whether it be gang related, school related, or whatever; it’s all wrong and making it hard for the city of Detroit to build upward. Basically some teens feel that it is nothing else to do, so they turn to doing violent and pointless acts that are only fueled by the violent rap lyrics that they are listening to.
According to the Metro Times article by Khary Turner, he explained the article how the rap industry in the city of Detroit plays a major part in the violence in the city and around the city. In Detroit the east and the west are completely different. In terms of rappers, the east is more conservative and the west is flashier and tends to like to show off more (Turner, pg 3). Rap music of today is merely a reflection of the violence that many urban dwellers deal with daily in America.
