To what extent were the actions of Hitler the cause of World War two?
One of the major causes of World War 2 was the actions of Hitler including rearmament the remilitarization of the Rhineland the Anschuss in 1938 the Sudetenland in 1938 Czechoslovakia in 1939 and the last cause was Poland in 1939. However they were some other causes the Treaty of Versailles the failures of the League of Nations the wall street crash the policy of appeasement the Nazis-Soviet pact and the aggressive foreign policies of the Italy and Japan.
At the time of Great depression was the time that Hitler came to power in Germany in 1933. One of his first steps was to increase Germany˘s army forces-Rearmament. Thousand of unemployed workers were drafted into the army. This helped him to reduce unemployment, which was one of the biggest problems he faced in Germany. But it also helped him to deliver on his promise to make Germany strong again to challenge the terms of the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler knew that Germany people supported rearmament. But he also knew it would cause alarm in other countries. He handled it cleverly. Rearmament began in secret first. He makes a great public display of his desire not to rearm Germany-the he was only doing it because other countries refused to disarm. He then followed Japan's example and withdrew from the League of Nations. In 1935 Hitler openly staged a massive military rally celebrating the German armed forces.
