A Place to Save
In the world there are many places that should either be fixed or taken down. One place in Syracuse that should be here for ever is the War Memorial at on Center. It should be here for many reasons such as the history, location, and what happens there today. The great history of the War Memorial at on Center started in 1948. The first part of history was that it featured the first poured-in-place concrete roof in the U.S. This historic building also held many big events and had a few pro teams call it home. Some of the events it was home to was the 1961 NBA all-star game and the NCAA frozen four in 1967 and 1971, and many of the band’s that played in the War Memorial are in the Rock n’ Roll hall of fame. The War Memorial was also in some movies such as Slap Shot. Some sports teams that called the War Memorial home were teams such as the Syracuse Nationals who played in the War Memorial from 1948 – 1963 in the 1955 season they won the NBA championship. The multi – purpose arena has had many hockey teams call it home. Today the 6,230 seat arena is the home of the Syracuse Crunch which is a minor league team hockey team. The location of the War Memorial is in a great spot, it is as if they built the city around the War Memorial. You are five minutes from everything. If you go one way you will end up at the Carrier Dome, if you go another way you will find your self at Clinton square or Armory square. This place is perfect any thing you want is only minute...
